Print styles issue

I added some print styles to the styles_screen_custom.css file and I can see they are there when viewing the file on the server, but when I print details pages, it seems to only load the styles_screen.css file. I added my print styles there and they work fine, but I know they will be overwritten when I upgrade. Do I need to add the styles_screen_custom.css somewhere to make sure it is used when printing?

And a second question re printing - at the bottom of the details page there is a Go Back button that is hidden when printing, but it has two <br> tags above it and three below and I can't seem to hide these when printing and they cause the Details to roll onto a second (blank) page. Is there a way I can remove these or could css be used instead of <br> tags to make that space?

I fixed the <br> tag issue by adding a print style to hide them:
br {
display:none;
}
