1118 Row size too large

When trying to adding a new field to the table, I get this message:
The DBMS server said: SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1118 Row size too large. The maximum row size for the used table type, not counting BLOBs, is 8126

I am on a shared host.
Is there a way to solve/bypass this?

thanks for any help!

A few questions that come to mind.

Have you asked your host about this?

Does this happen within the Dadabik Data tab? If so does it also happen when you use phpMyAdmin to add the field?

How big is your database? Number of fields and rows etc?
