Magento Installation

Hi, I've tried to install this on a Magento server (bitnami stack) and had no luck so far.
I've followed the bitnami instructions for installing a PHP app:

This caused the web server to stop working, though the ownerermissions were not root.
I will try again with a permissions change. If anyone can throw light on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
