Could someone tell to the beginer i am how to use a field as select single ?

I try,

"select single" means that you got a drop down box to select an item in the insert view, useful if the user should choose from a specific selection.

does it help?

Have you followed the instructions in the documentation?
In addition to setting the field type to select_single, you also need to tell the program where the items for the drop-down are, whether they are located in another table OR if you will be setting them manually in the interface configurator.
