Hi,
having Stripe (or other payment provider) integrated so that, optionally, only users having a certain payment status (e.g. an active subscription) can access your DaDaBIK application. This is particularly useful for creating membership-based applications and similar use cases.

Here:

Hi,
If you have specific use cases to mention, it would be helpful for me to understand the scenarios where this feature would be used.
@misamisa @Frank remember that if you want to vote for a feature you must use the upvote link.

Hi,
I am currently planning to build a DaDaBIK app with a slightly different approach. Besides offering users free or subscription-based access (handled through Stripe or similar), I’m also looking into adding an option where users would need to make a one-time payment before they can download or print certain documents, like an official certificate. For example, in a business registration system, users would be able to sign up, submit their application, and use most features freely or via a subscription. But when it comes to accessing a finalized certificate, something with legal or administrative value, the app would require payment before allowing them to download or print it. Still early days on my side, but this is the direction I am planning to take. Thx!

Assuming the payment module is available, I think this could be implemented by moving paying users to a specific group having different permissions.

Hi!
If we could use Stripe and Paypal, I think we would have about 80% of subscriptions(payment gates) resolved... Just an oppinion, but the feature would be great addition!
thx!
I agree, and Google Pay, which is most og the androig users and google users worldwide :D

For use cases: suscriptions, monthly payments, rentals, ... eg. I pay for a horrible service every month on clubexpress, and we could use wordpress and DadaBik to do the same...

This doesn't seem related to the topic; if you need support from the community, please post a new thread on the support forum.

Yes, but I think we are aiming to complete payment directly from our Dadabik_App, and the to unlock features or sth else...
Here is what I meant, hopefully other also(AI generated answers):

🔧 1. Choosing a Payment Provider

Both Stripe and PayPal offer:
  • Secure payment processing
  • APIs and SDKs for web and mobile
  • Support for one-time and recurring payments
  • Webhooks for post-payment automation
Stripe is often preferred for developers due to its modern API and better customization. PayPal is widely recognized and trusted by users.

🧱 2. Basic Architecture Overview

Here’s a simplified flow:
  1. Frontend (Web App):
    • Displays product or service
    • Collects payment info via Stripe/PayPal SDK
    • Sends payment request to backend
  2. Backend (Server):
    • Creates a payment session (Stripe Checkout or PayPal Order)
    • Verifies payment status
    • Listens to webhooks for payment confirmation
    • Unlocks content or features upon successful payment
  3. Database:
    • Stores user payment status
    • Controls access to premium features

🔐 3. Secure Payment Configuration

For Stripe:

  • Use Stripe Checkout or Payment Intents API
  • Securely store your Stripe Secret Key on the server
  • Use HTTPS for all communication
  • Implement webhooks to listen for events like payment_intent.succeeded

For PayPal:

  • Use PayPal Smart Buttons or REST API
  • Securely store Client ID and Secret
  • Handle IPN (Instant Payment Notification) or Webhooks

🔓 4. Automatic Unlocking After Payment

This is typically done via webhooks:
  1. User completes payment
  2. Stripe/PayPal sends a webhook to your backend
  3. Your backend:
    • Verifies the webhook signature
    • Updates the user’s status in the database
    • Sends confirmation or unlocks access

🧪 Example Use Case

Let’s say you’re selling access to a premium article:
  • User clicks “Buy Now”
  • Stripe Checkout opens
  • After payment, Stripe sends a webhook to /webhook
  • Your server updates the user’s access level
  • User is redirected to the unlocked article

🛠️ Tools & Libraries

  • Stripe: stripe npm package, Stripe.js, Checkout
  • PayPal: PayPal JS SDK, REST API
  • Backend: Node.js, Python (Flask/Django), PHP, etc.
  • Database: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Firebase, etc

I am now seriously thinking about this payment module. I am thinking about starting with a simple stripe integration that would allow to build (paid) membership DaDaBIK apps and SaaS DaDaBIK apps.

Creating a Stripe payment page is extremely simple: I have created this one:
in about 30 seconds.

So a first, simple, implementation could consist in:

Solution for one-time payments

1) The DaDaBIK DEV creates a Stripe account and add the needed API credentials in DaDaBIK
2) The DaDaBIK DEV enable the Stripe (payment success etc) webhooks adding the URL of their DaDaBIK app
3) The DaDaBIK DEV adds a link to the Stripe payment page to the DaDaBIK login form
4) When a user pays through the link, Stripe calls the DaDaBIK app URL, which create a user in DaDaBIK with temporary password and send a link to the user, who can now login and change their password

Point 2) could be automated by DaDaBIK using the Stripe API, I have to investigate this.
This would cover one-time payments, subscriptions need more logic (or can be handle with some manual work i.e. admins manually disable the user when the subscription is not renewed).

I am currently working on a complex membership system that requires either 'pay in one yearly members_fees ' or monthly subscription options. This would be a very useful functionality. I have Stripe for my existing ecoms shops so it makes sense to work with what I have got.

I have this working on a membership form where the fee is calculated depending on the membership type and if it's a family membership, the number of children registered. The user is given th option to pay "all in one" or set up a monthly subscription I have used Stripe with some coding to allow for the pay "all in one" or monthly.

"by moving paying users to a specific group having different permissions." ... that is probably giving the most flexibility in the existing DaDaBIK way of working.
... and maybe *also* changing one user's bool field, or a hook that would permit to change any field by code (a date, a number of days, a number of connections...), so that its easier for any code including outside DaDaBIK.

... and fully agreed with misamisa that Stripe & Paypal would cover already a lot

Funny as this suggestion gets several questions or related comments in the forum ... and not many find the upvode buton on the top right

Yes it seems there is some demand for this feature but still very few votes so I still think it would be a useful feature but still not sure if implement it in the next major release or not.

If you want to share your use case and how you would use this feature (even on a Teams call) I am interested.

Hi,

Would be a very big improvement for one of my apps.

We have a Coworking/Event space and selling coworking days, rent meeting room, rent studio room and the whole space for specific events. Today we sent the customers an invoice by email and they should book the amount to our account based on the information we provide them on the invoice. But as you can imagine, for those people not having a business or not working at a company, the B2C cases so to say, just want to click a button and pay the fee for that coworking day, or meeting room rental. But even for companies you have to send out reminders all the time. Not because they do not want to pay, but because it's an administrative task they easily postpone. It's about very small amounts mostly.

Stripe integration would help us a lot. As soon as we offer them an easy way to pay, it will be a win-win. They can do the payment in an easy and not time consuming way, and we do not have to go after it that much anymore.

How it could look like:

Dadabik App --> Create Checkout session --> Stripe --> Returns checkout URL

Dadabik App --> Email + PDF + Payment button

Customer --> Payment --> Stripe --> Webhook

Dadabik App --> Invoice = Paid

Something like this. Anyway, this would be a great improvement.

Best,
