Issue with 13.6 platinum upgrade?

Hi Eugenio,

I'm trying to upgrade to dadabik_13.6-Levanto_platinum.zip from 13.5.

I'm doing the upgrade in the normal way (copying up.php and up2.php to the main folder, copying the DaDaBIK zip file to the specified upgrade directory.)

Once I've agreed to all the checkboxes etc and gone ahead, the zip file is being unpacked normally, but the installation is then failing with the following error:
Error while copying file upgrades_[redacted]/dadabik_13.6-Levanto_platinum/program_files/include/dadabik_tables_creation_functions.php
This file does exist in the specified location in the unpacked folder, and has sane permissions etc.
The corresponding file in include/ is being created, but has size 0 (but other files have been updated, it's not an overall permissions issue on include).
The zip file has the expected md5sum (I've downloaded it twice just in case).
There's nothing in the php logs as to what the actual error is.
The hosting account has plenty of diskspace (and I freed up some extra diskspace just in case.)

Any thoughts for what to look at/try next? I've only tried this on my staging server so far as I don't want to break my live server.
Cheers,
Kona

Hi Kona,
I am not aware of any related bug, files copy errors are typically due to permissions or disk space, but you already checked that. I will see if I can think of any other possible reasons and let you know.

Hi Kona,
considering all the tests you already did, I can only think about an interfering anti malware. Could you please try to manually copy that file? Does the copy work or the size of the target file eventually becomes 0 bytes?

Could you unzip the zip file on the server and see if that file has the same permissions and owner as the others in the same folder?

Another test you could do is, after having restored the installation with a file backup (you don't need to restore the db because the upgrade script died before touching the db), try again and see if the error is still on that file.

Best,

Well that mystery is going to go unsolved, I fear! I re-tried the upgrade today (which created a fresh upgrades_xxxx folder) and there was no issue. We generally have very reliable, high-quality hosting but I will see if there were any incidents yesterday. Consider this one closed! If it ever happens again I'll add a bit of debugging to the upgrade script to see if I can find out what's going on.
